YEAR: 4 2013                 TRIP TO: NANYUKI

FOCUS OF TRIP & ACTIVITIES

In Yr 4, the pupils go for a 2 nights out camping trip. Last year, they went to Nanyuki. The trip was aimed at reinforcing their study of mapping skills and conservation of endangered animals like the chimpanzees, the rhino and the elephant. The long journey to Nanyuki was so fascinating. Children had opportunities to view the Rift valley, see different crops and vegetation, catch sight of the Rift Valley escarpment, have a picnic at Thomson’s Falls and view the Aberdares and Mt. Kenya. The stay at the Sportsman’s Arms Hotel, team building activities and the food were all amazing experiences.

During the game drive at the Ol-Pejeta Conservancy, the children saw many animals including the big five except the cheetah, chimpanzees rhinos, buffalos, giraffes and many others. They fed, touched and spent time with ‘Baraka’, the blind rhino. It is an unforgettable experience for the children in Year 4.
