Personal and Social Health Education (PSHE)

Through Personal, Social and Health Education we promote Greensteds students’ personal and social development, including their health and well-being. The UK Government’s "Every Child Matters" legislation has been used in designing our programme. Students should develop self-awareness, positive self-esteem and confidence to:

  • Stay as healthy as possible
  • Keep themselves and others safe
  • Respect the differences between people
  • Develop independence and responsibility
  • Play an active role as members of a democratic society
  • Make the most of their own and others’ abilities.

We also cover Citizenship, which is based around three main themes at Greensteds:

  • The development of social and moral responsibility
  • The development of a sense of community involvement
  • The development of political literacy

The timetabling of PSHE programme at the School includes one lesson per week for each student throughout Years 7-11.

Teachers of PSHE at Greensteds include: Mr R J Thompson (Deputy Head Pastoral), Miss S Abaker (Assistant Dorm Tutor, Senior Girls), Mr. S Mutemi (ICT, Year 8 Form Tutor) and Mr F Opalla (Science, Assistant Dorm Tutor, Kinangop (Boys Yr10-12)
