A big welcome to everyone as we embark on another awesome start at Greensteds this new academic year. A special welcome to the new staff and students. We feel a breath of freshness. Bienvenido! Bienvenue! Karibuni sana. During the holiday we had one of our swimmers representing the country at the East African Games held in Arusha, Tanzania. He finished 3rd in the 50m Breaststroke and as part of the mixed Relay team came 2nd.
Well done Daryl! The Kenya team won the overall championship. Our World Scholars team took part in the Global Round at the Hague, Netherlands and emerged the third best team from Africa bringing home with 28 Gold Medals and 42 silver medals from the 7 areas they were competing in. Our own, Jerry Maosa the Mathematics teacher, was awarded Coach of the Year for his immense contribution to this global competition. Our results continue to be impressive as shown by the results of the May/June Examination series which indicated that most of the subjects recorded 100% pass rate and we were well above the UK average. This is in spite of the fact that we are a non-selective school.
As I had shared in an email sent last month, the CIS Report highlighted our one of our strengths as the quality of teaching and learning. I have chosen to challenge all of us with the theme “Intentional Excellence” that I would want to see permeating all aspects of life at Greensteds this year.
As we prepare for our annual Fun Fair on 21st September 2019, the Sports Day on 17th November 2019, among other excited events, I believe we will see this excellence in how we relate and celebrate each other. You are all welcome to join us during these events. I wish the entire Greensteds community another great year and excellence in all you undertake this year.
